The Third Son

by G. Younger

Published: 2022-03-12. 130,000 Words.

Categories: Fiction » Fantasy » Historical

Format: EPUB

Content Rating: Older than 17

Most third sons never survived childhood. Third sons were a problem for a hereditary peerage. They couldn’t inherit, which made them dangerous to the heir. In the Duchy of Montrose, the heir was the firstborn. The second son was traditionally sent to the clergy, renouncing all his rights to inheritance.

Today marked the liminal ritual or rite of passage. For Thomas Mycroft, the third son, he’d just turned eighteen, making him a man. Today he would learn his fate― would he be used for a political marriage or put into the military—somewhere far from home. Today would mark the beginning of an adventure.

The Third Son is a fantasy novel filled with plenty of swordplay, magic, and even a little romance to make things interesting.

Everything comes together in a subtle blending of sorcery and storytelling. One of the few authors that can continuously draw me in and keep me in the book. His ability to add humility to his characters make them so much more relatable. I will spend money on this author just to keep him writing, great character development and believable interactions

Another Home Run for G Younger

Reviewed it on March 26, 2022

I have been a fan of his stories now for a few years. I can say I have purchased most of his books. I started with his Stupid Boy series which I didn't read right away. But when I did read it i could not put it down and had to buy each following book.

I can see where this book could go into a series like Stupid Boy. I know i would be a fan for it. I read the first few chapters then I had to buy it. Lets just put it this way it normally takes me 2 to 3 days to read a 300 page pdf but I was able to do it in one sitting. I am giving this book a 5 start not only because it is good but it kept me reading the entire thing in 1 day which is hard for books to do.

I want to thank Greg for another great book to keep me entertained at least for today! This Author is a must read!!!

Another Great Story

I have to say that I have read all of this authors stories and this is right there at the top of the list. Easy to read, side plots to fill in the whole story and filled with just the right amount of action through out.

A great story as normal from the author

I really enjoyed reading this book and wish there was a follow-up already. I really want to see how Frost's family became part of the household. I feel this could be a multi-series book like Terry Goodkind Wizard books or Raymond Feist books.

Medieval Magic

An intriguing plot and a solid cast that should keep you interested. I'm somewhat upset that after the cost and time reading this, it's over. I could have had a lot more of this story and still wanted additional chapters.

Well Worth the Read

A well told story that gives good insite to the main character set in a medieval universe spiced with a little magic. The plot was good and the supporting characters sufficient to provide extra interest.

The book kept met me entertained and whiled away an otherwise dull day.

Thanks for writing.

I'd give it 4 1/2 stars.

Good Read. Great Characters

I've read all of G Younger's stories and really enjoy his writing style and character development. This story mostly lives up to expectations with good character development and engaging storyline. Too many grammar and spelling errors for this price point.

I like this author's storytelling skills and have read most of his works. In this story some threads remain untied and it seems to me that there are some logical problems. Overall a good story but a bit overpriced compared to other stories
