Bear, transplanted to Earth Prime, has been asked to return to Darwin's World and escort two young people who have volunteered to attempt to live on Darwin. The hope is that they will return to Prime, bringing with them the experience that may change the outlook of others on Prime.
Untrained, almost unsuitable...what is Bear to do?
With the help of Mesk and the computer net known as Central, he trains them in basic skills and then leads them to Darwin. But there are two of them, and he soon realizes that he needs a helper.
The volunteers are not exactly what he had in mind! Skilled, yes; but there are three of them, young women, red-haired triplets, and they have their own agenda!
