Like all of Argon's works, a well written story with good language use and clear character development. Prompts me to find his older works to read.

A Worthy Successor to C.S. Forester

In my early adulthood, I discovered C.S. Forester and his Hornblower series. I was hooked - I now have the entire set of books in this genre. They were well-written, well researched, and captivating. His other books - meh! So it was when I began reading the Thomas Grey series by Peter Argonis, internally, I was comparing his work to that of C.S. Forester. You know what was surprising - they were better than the Hornblower series. These are books that I consume in one reading. These are books where you sense that a person like Thomas Grey could actually exist. These are books where you get invested in the characters. Also, what is interesting is that he is able to weave into the Thomas Grey series the characters from other series (e.g., Will Potter who appears). That really impresses me. I admire and am impressed by the world that Argonis has created in this series. These are books that are really worth the money. Buy them - if you like the age of sail, you will like this series. Highly recommended.
