This is a story about nothing. Much like Seinfeld, you have to take the enjoyment you can from the individual paragraphs, because there's not much beyond them. Some people, more or less related, go through life in the latter half of the 20th century, plus a little beyond. The ending isn't a great tragedy or letdown or anything. The ending is just a way of writing, "No sequels." And like Fox News, it's "fair and balanced." If it was just one-sided, there could have been comic or satiric value, etc. As is? It's an obvious writing strategem. I'll allow it.jim1

I enjoyed the book greatly. Don’t skip it for the ending. It wasn’t all that bad.steven.a.melnyk

The author is someone that should be familiar to any long-term reader of SOL. He has been responsible for some of the best series to be published on this site - including "The Grim Reaper", "Fresh Start", and "The Contractor." So, when a book written by this author is published on Bookapy, I will be buy it without even reading the sample. Overall, the book does not disappoint. It follows three different couples and, true to the title of the book, there are important lessons to be passed along and to be learned. Well written, with well-developed characters, you get to really like them. The plot is well structured and the focus on the book both appropriate and intriguing. If that is the case, then why 4 not 5 stars. Well, let's get this out of the way first - the book is highly regarded. In short, buy it. However, and this is a personal issue, I did not like the ending. To me, it felt contrived and a true downer. It was like having a great main course followed by a so-so dessert. Others may like the ending; I did not. However, as previously noted, this does not prevent me from strongly recommended the book. Buy it; it is well worth the purchase price.
