Johnny Pulaski was a late bloomer. He was short and scrawny until the summer after ninth grade. He was small enough that even his older sister called him runt. Then puberty struck, he hit a growth spurt and he discovered the real reason that people – especially girls – liked him. Johnny’s young life had all the usual ups and downs, he was a normal teenage boy after all … or was he?
A very good coming of age book!
Reviewed it on November 4, 2023It’s very well written. It's not very realistic, but why would we want to read a boring realistic story. The characters are well developed and the story is well laid out. I look forward to its continuation in the next book.

It is life as a teenager.
Reviewed it on October 7, 2023This is what a teen's life should be.
Reviewed it on October 20, 2023Good story. I've enjoyed most of the authors other work. My only major gripe is grammar and punctuation. Missing words in some sentences and commas. But still understandable. Worth a buy.
Overall a decent read, and well worth the price.
Reviewed it on October 16, 2023The overall story was fun and engaging. Though it seemed like the author was glossing over otherwise important subject matter to avoid being pulled in too many directions towards the last third of the book. The ending left something to be desired, though it did leave it open for more installments so that is a plus.
Did not like the way the story ended?
Reviewed it on November 29, 2023From the way the story went, I thought that Elaine and Johnny had a future together, but the other book of him six year later has no mention of her. HE JUST LEFT HER AND WENT IN THE ARMY LIKE SHE WAS NOTHING. Do another reviewer who mentioned that this was not the updated version. I think it is because there are extra chapters here. Uh, I think 29, 30 and 30. They just cover a gap from when he graduated high school till he actually went into the service, which was the army, he is writing a second book that will cover his army time as a ranger .
Not the complete revised edition
Reviewed it on November 9, 2023Joe J has been a much downloaded writer on another site. He posted a notice there that he was adding to this book to cover Johnny’s USMC enlistment. This is not that version, so I am disappointed, however I suspect he will update this one when he finished the rewrite
