A totally engrossing piece of work

Reviewed it on June 3, 2023

With the exception of a (Very) few errors in word usage, this is a totally engrossing and captivating piece of work. The saying “Right Man, Right place, Right Time” is fully demonstrated here. The focus on people power in this sort of historical context easily shows how a country can grow from a feudal state to an industrialized nation by the efforts of a single person. I totally look forward to book 2.

A good ending

well thought out story

Alternative Historical Fiction

Book was thought out with some leaps of faith or should be said a suspension of reality in order to make a progressive and thought out storyline. The thought that people were not stupid, but only ignorant, is not the way we usually think of our 30 time great grandparents. The effort and luck to obtain enough food to live would blot out any other ability to think or learn. Good story, with good reasons to do what is big business these days; that is health care, education and appropriate housing.

Don't need rebar in UK

Looking forward to book 2
Only one small criticism.
In the UK the geology is stable
so rebar not used in most homes even today.

Great alternate timeline do-over romp

I enjoyed the logical, if fantastic, progression of the plot. It kept my interest enough to buy the completed book. I look forward to Book 2.

It was a fast paced story that I enjoyed very much! Like other stories out in the world it has similar ideas revisited! I'm looking forward to future books!

An interesting time travel/do over story

Reviewed it on April 20, 2023

I liked the scientific/engineering details, as well as the flow of the story. Too many self-published authors throw in a mountain of minutiae that doesn't advance the story. Not here. Also happy not to see gratuitous sex scenes. Looking forward to book 2

It would have been interesting to see how James handled the baroness had she lived.

Ed Nelson at his historical best

If you liked his style in his previous works, you will be happy to hear that this novel has it in spades.

Cast in Time is a well researched historical novel with an all around nice older guy as MC. He has been cast to Cornwall in the second part of the 8th century and turned from an old geezer to a young guy.

Looking forward to book 2

Good story, sometimes a little too smooth. The protagonist succeeds in everything. But it's fun to follow his ideas and solutions. A likeable character and an interesting setting.

Little knowledge of the era to unlearn.

Very good. The description of size of towns and “ Baronies” gives an entirely different idea of the time vs the written history and movies.

Can not wait for book two.

Loved the story and well written. I do find the American spelling in an English situation a bit hard to take. Keep going with the story.

Good Start to a promising series

A nice start to a re-write of time in the British Isles. A perfect candidate to kick-start the modern era is sent back in time to do good. Waiting for the next volume will try my patience.

Sent back in time to Post Roman Britain.

Reviewed it on April 12, 2023

The author has developed this story well and has the consepts of various industries, from farming via mining to steel making, well thought out. This book covers just the first few years of the heroes life in the past. The plot progresses well and discusses his stumbling blocks as well as his sucesses. I feel however that the prose is rather stilted in places. However this can be easily sorted as I understand this is a pre publication version. Well worth buying and I eagerly await the next volume. jh
