Debbie and Robby have secretly played in the mysterious abandoned mansion next door for most of their lives. Local lore says nine people died in that mansion but the kids don't care. For them, the house is a welcoming place where they can imagine a fantasy world. As they play dress-up in old clothes they found there they discovered their own sexuality as well. Now, as they keep their own flowering relationship restricted to the house, it begins to give up some of its secrets. Then their lives are turned upside down when a stranger arrives and begins to renovate the mansion, planning to live in it. Their world seems to be falling apart and then they find out their own mother somehow knows the interloper and is helping him steal their play space away from them. They can't stop the stranger, but they can spy on him. When they do, even more secrets are disclosed about their mother, himself, and even them.
