Darwin's World's transplants, facing a seemingly unending winter, food shortages, and danger from raiders, have headed west to find a safer place to live. Complicating their plan is the loss of their trip leader, Matt, and now the absence of his consort Lilia as well. Hungry, tired, but finally past the snow, the tribe pauses to set up camp by a wide river where they can rest and hopefully find food.
Ahead are the deadly tall-grass plains, giant predators, rivers...and those are the expected hazards! What else might be waiting?
Unfortunately for Pavel and his gang, Matt survived the murder attempt and Lilia soon tells him her suspicions. Together, they head off to rejoin the tribe. Pavel and his men believe that Lilia will find Matt's weapons, evidence that they killed Matt. They, too, have left the tribe and are now trying to prevent her from returning. What, after all, is one more murder?
On Darwin's World, it's just a statistic...

Fantastic Follow-on to Darwin's World

This book continues where Darwin's World left off. Our transplants now are moving as a group to find a new defensible home with a better climate. They are beset with protagonists new and old to make they travels more difficult. Overall, this fast-paced adventure is a good read. I can't wait for the third book in the series.
