An Uncertain Future in a New Past
During the test flight of a prototype faster-than-light craft, Lt. Commander Ky is flung into an ancient past that never existed.  Rome has fallen, defeated by the mighty Carthaginian Empire, it's survivors chased off the continent and onto what had been the remote province of Britannia. Hounded by the Carthaginians bent on conquering the known world, Rome is on the verge of destruction.  Stranded and alone, except for a tactical AI implanted in his head, Ky has lost everything and must find a way to live in a world different than anything he's ever known.

For Ky to survive, he needs a new home.  For the Romans to survive, they need a miracle. But can a man from the future work with people so far in his past, or is this match doomed to failure?

Excellent Story

After reading the first few chapters I couldn't wait for the rest, so I bought the book. Now I need to catch up on my sleep as I stayed up way to late to many nights because I couldn't put the book down. Well written, believable characters and fascinating story.

What a great book! Enjoyed it very much, and promptly went out and bought everything this guy has written! Not a false note in the pacing, dialog or plot. Can't wait for the next book in the series.

Bought the book after reading a few chapters on SOL. Well worth it.

Excellent story line, well written and believable characters; hard to put down. Recommended.

Travis has said that he is working on book 2 (Imperium #2?) and should be released after April 2022.

Time travel to an alternate universe

I have read a number of Travis Starnes novels and enjoyed them all. After reading three chapters of this story online I had to purchase the book to immediately see where it was heading. Very enjoyable read with time travel and alternate reality. Hoping there will be future tales to come.

Sci-Fi Meets Alternate History

There are very few authors that can handle conflicting genres such as this and The Sword of Jupitor does a great job of straddling that line. The characters are well fleshed out, the main character is interesting, and the story is paced very well. I recommend it.

Fascinating Alternate History

The Hero, Ky - The Sword of Jupiter - finds he has to guide the destiny of a nation in an alternate Earth. The author does a wonderful job of fleshing out the problems involved in improving the socio-political structure of a failing nation while bringing new ideas to its economic and industrial base in order to survive invasion. Booringgg - not in the least. I'm looking forward to the next volume. This is a thoroughly recommended read.
