The Richard Jackson Saga
Book 12: Escape From Siberia
Ricks involment with government continues at a high level. As he matures he faces the greatest challenge of his life when he is kidnapped by the KGB. Taken to the Soviet Union and put on trial he finds that he has to create his own way to safety. He creates such havoc in the government on his way out, the Chinese promise never to kidnap him.
With humor, we follow a young man’s coming of age in the late 1950s. Starting in the summer before his freshman year this series follows the young man through his high school life and beyond. He finds that fame and fortune cannot protect him from everything.
He learns that people can grow apart through no fault of their own.
His feud with the Kennedy brothers deepens. As Confucius says, ”When setting out for revenge, dig two graves.”
This tongue-in-cheek saga is all true, give or take a lie or two.

Rick Jackson is back

I think this is the best Rick Jackson book in a while now. It has everything, from the adventure in Siberia to the reconciliation with Nina and a bigger focus on world events.
It is also the first book in the series to take the alternative history route. I won’t spoil anything, but this book doesn’t end with the Soviet Union/Russia we all knew during the Cold War and now in 2021.
Rick’s love troubles return as they have in previous books, but I though the end was hopeful that this might change.
We also get to see more of Mary, his parents, and his business managers. There is even mention of a new invention, which is pretty cool.
All in all, I enjoyed the book greatly. I read it in one sitting last night, and I plan to do the same when the next book comes out. 5/5* Recommended.

LOVED THE SECTION OF RICK'S ESCAPE FROM SIBERIA

I've enjoyed this series from the very start when it first was posted on SOL years ago. I very much enjoyed Rick's winning of the last two golf major tournaments to win the Amateur Grand Slam of the four majors in one year. I most enjoyed Rick's survival in Siberia, his escape, and his revenge upon the USSR. I loved how this led to the fall of Russia as a world power. I much look forward to any future books Ed Nelson is able to write in this series. As much as I have enjoyed the other books in the series, this book is my favorite so far. Very enjoyable writing and very entertaining reading!
