While there are many settled worlds that are classified as dangerous to standard humanoid life, there is a world that exceeds them all and is the only garden world in the known galaxy classified as a Type X planet: Green Hell.
At first glance a lush green world with a standard NiOx atmosphere, liquid water and an abundance of native life forms that would warrant the Garden world classification A 1 it is those life forms that make it different.
There are worlds with tremendous storms, those that are tectonic very active. Worlds with dangerous life forms and other treacherous conditions; yet none are comparable.
Green Hell is covered to sixty percent with deep jungles and every life form, from the smallest bacteria to gigantic floating living clouds everything has an arsenal of natural weapons, and all are extremely lethal. No known species, be it Pertharians, Nul or the massive Thala is able to survive unprotected for more than a few moments on this world. The strongest corrosive acid known is produced by local ants, the deadliest poisons; bio toxic compounds far lethally beyond even the poisons used and identified by the Shail are produced by animals and plants of that world.
Yet Green Hell has a small Union colony, mostly to support an Exobiology research outpost of the Union science council.

The Story is Good But
Reviewed it on January 19, 2026
This is the story of an adolescent growing up on a very dangerous planet where most folks cannot venture far without serious injury or death. The planet is âaliveâ and has been grooming the protagonist since he was 5 years old. He is somewhat neglected by his scientist parents and makes his way through childhood and adolescence on his own. He did have a close friend that he grew up with who is a very experienced and decorated retired military soldier that he calls âuncleâ. Youâd think some of that knowledge would have been imparted on our hero. That and the fact that his âuncleâ should have further pushed the boyâs discipline regarding education. Especially since our hero looks up to him so much and wants to be like him. There are inconsistencies that can be a little annoying such as when the protagonist gets to be very whiny and doesnât know what to do, but yet is relied upon to take save the world. Itâs a good thing Partner, his relatively newfound constant companion comes along. After all, he grew up essentially on his own so he should be a little more mature.
I should note that there are side stories that do come together at the end using characters that could be developed further. In fact, they may potentially have their own stories. It is difficult to provide all of their background without making this story really long. As a result, there are holes in the characters.
The story could use an extensive proofread (lots of typos and grammatical errors) and some more editing. But I do like the basic premise and will read part 2 of the series.
