About
Born and raised in the great pacific northwest, I can truly say I became a product of my environment--wild and free. I grew up on a sailboat, just my dad and I, and all through my life I have never stayed in one place for more than 5 or 6 years. As a kid I was about as independent as you could get, my first car—a kayak—that took me all over the San Juan Islands. I began working as a deckhand on a fishing boat at the ripe old age of 12 and have spent the sum total of 4 years in a traditional public school system.
Growing up on the water made the segue into the US Navy seem a logical step. Actually, I wanted to join the Coast Guard but they require a HS diploma and I only had my GED. So, I spent 20 years haze gray and under-way…well that’s not true either. I became a Navy Corpsman (medic) and found out I had actually joined the Marine Corps.
Retiring from the military at 40, I would have loved to spent the remainder of my years living the life of ease off of my meager pension. The key word there is ‘meager’ so back to work I went and have been ever since.
My writing is a reflection of my own sense of creativity and life reflections; hence my MCs will always have a dog and they will typically be introspective and antisocial. They will typically have a higher-than-normal IQ but that will rarely serve them well.
Rottweiler is one of two Nom de gurres that I use on SOL and it will always be my publishing pen name.
I hope you enjoy my work and, if not I hope you will provide me with constructive feedback. I welcome any and all comments, good or bad. I have very thick skin.
Best regards,
R
