I would like to thank my brilliant wife, Casey. without her, I never would have written this book. Thank you for the encouragement and the feedback positive and negative. You helped me to learn to write better, and to improve this book.
I give special thanks to my wonderful children who inspire me as I write, and who motivate me to improve myself and to seek a better life. My life has improved just having you both in it.
I would also like to thank my mother, Victoria. With her I wouldn't be here. Thank for working hard to make sure that we had everything we needed. And to my father, Thomas. I know that you're in heaven and that you are watching over all of us. Thank you for all the support and encouragement. I've learned so much from you.
This book is dedicated to all of those who saw potential in me and encouraged me to be a better person, and to all of whom encouraged me to follow my dreams. And in memory of my dad. We all love and miss you!
Prologue
There was a time when the universe was whole, and it was filled with powerful beings. Some of these beings discovered that the universe was unstable. If something wasn't done, the entire universe would implode. There greatest scientists got together in the hope of fixing the problem. The problem, however, couldn't be fixed. It was Discovered that the only way to stop the universe from being destroyed was to split the universe into three realms.
Billions of years later, a group of human scientists discovered the true nature of the universe and of dreams. They learned how to use dreams to communicate with their doubles in another realm. A connection was formed allowing scientist to communicate between the left and right realms. This led to a collaboration that threatened to destroy universe once again. After narrowly avoiding destruction, once again, A child (named Lancel) was born who could be the key to destroying or saving the universe.
Twenty years later, after crossing the barrier from the left to the right realm to hide, Lancel falls in love. When Walker learns of his love, Lancel must make tough decisions to save her life and the life of their son. Now, almost another twenty years later, He finds himself trapped in the "dream vale" and dying.
But this story isn't about Lancel. This is Danny's story. Danny is a remarkable young man ready to make his dreams a reality. He doesn't yet know the adventures that he has in store. A new business, new friends, family, and a new world may just be the tip of the iceberg. Everyone knew from the day he was born, That Danny was extraordinary. There was never any doubt that he could do anything that he put his mind to.
Nineteen years later, Danny is about to embark on his journey through adulthood. He has been preparing for this for a very long time. When he was fourteen, he decided that he wanted to start a business. He has worked hard to save money and build a reputation as a foundation for his new business. Right at this moment, however, his biggest concern is how to get out of this field that he found himself in.
The field seemed to stretch on forever. He looked around. There were no trees or any significant landmarks as far as he could see. The grass was mostly green and had long stalks topped with copper-colored grains. When the wind blew, there appeared to be gentle waves rolling across the land. The vast ocean of grass was knee-high and dotted with patches of flowers in every direction. He could hear birds and crickets, but no matter how close he looked, he couldn’t see them anywhere.
He took a step forward to start what promised to be a long journey. As he walked, he noticed that everything looked the same. The scenery didn’t change at all. He didn’t know where he was going or how far he even walked. He had nothing to determine the direction or distance. There were still no landmarks. And though it was bright out here without a cloud in sight, there was no sun in the sky.
He didn’t even know how long he had been walking, or if he was even getting anywhere. The scenery was playing tricks on his mind. While walking, it seemed like he had walked for miles. But when he stopped, it didn’t look like he moved at all. Several times, he even thought that he saw someone out of the corner of his eye. He couldn't make anything out, just a dark figure. When he turned to look, however, there was no one there. I need to get out of this field, he thought.
