Chapter 51: Mistaken Rescue

Huh?

Serve?

Lucas narrowed his eyes with a sharp breath.

Could this guy be the one David planted at the Red Pavilion, sent to approach Zavier, and eventually betray him, leading to his tragic death?

He observed the man carefully for a moment and indeed noticed several suspicious details.

First, lackeys like this were usually talentless and tasteless, but this man’s outfit was low-key and tasteful. He didn’t look like a typical bootlicker.

Second, he looked easy to deal with on the surface, but his body was muscular, and the palms of his hands were covered with calluses. Those weren’t the kind formed by farming. They were the kind you got from years of training with weapons.

Third, although his words were full of flattery, his eyes showed no respect. In fact, they carried a menacing air.

This was no ordinary man.

He must be one of David’s men.

And not just any subordinate, likely a core member who usually held a position of authority.

With that thought, Lucas quickly put an arm around his shoulders and said, “You want to work for me and Old Brown? Great timing. I happen to need someone to run errands. You’ll work for me from now on.”

He couldn’t just let this go.

If this guy were here to kill Zavier, then it would be better to pull him over to his side.

He already had a Medusa under him. At this point, adding a few more snakes didn’t bother him.

In fact, he would welcome it if David sent ten or more people over to serve him.

“Huh?”

The man looked a bit surprised and glanced at Zavier.

It was clear he had come for Brown guy.

Seeing that, Lucas became even more determined not to let him go. “What? You’re not willing to be my underling? That’s fine. Just get lost then.”

“No no no, how could I be unwilling? I’m more than willing! It’s the greatest honor of my life to serve you, Young Master Grey. My name is Adrian Wilson. Please take care of me from now on.”

Adrian!

It really was Adrian!

In the original novel, the mole who betrayed and got Zavier killed was named Adrian!

Lucas let out a long breath of relief.

Getting this guy on his side at least reduced the danger Zavier would face.

“Alright, leave your phone number with me. If I need something, I’ll call you directly.”

“No problem, Young Master Grey!”

After exchanging numbers, Lucas put one arm around Rose and pulled Zavier along with the other as they left.

Outside, Lucas couldn’t help but say, “Old Brown, we’ve been a little high-profile lately. That makes us targets. When you go out or handle anything, be careful, alright?”

Zavier didn’t take it seriously at all. “What a joke. If anyone dares mess with me, I’ll beat them to death.”

Um…

Brother, no offense, but you couldn’t even take me down. Who exactly are you beating?

Forget it. He’d just have to look after him more himself.

On the way home, Rose asked, “When did you and Zavier get so close?”

Lucas answered casually, “It just sort of happened. We’re not that close, really. It’s more like one hero admiring another.”

More accurately, it was one villain recognizing another.

Even if they were both doomed to be taken down by the Dragon King protagonist in the end, at least they could try to save themselves a little along the way.

Rose, hearing his thoughts, suddenly understood.

So Zavier was a villain, too.

“But Lucas, I should warn you. Even if you’re reckless in what you do, you’re a good person at heart. Zavier is different. He’s naturally despicable. Today, he might call you brother, but tomorrow he could betray you for profit. You really shouldn’t trust others so easily.”

Good person? Seriously?

Lucas’s face turned green.

I’m a villain. A villain, got it?

Could you stop calling me kind and good-hearted? You’re setting me up to break character here.

Still, her words made Lucas pause.

She had a point. Zavier wasn’t like him. Lucas had changed, but Zavier hadn’t. He was still a true villain through and through.

Villains were bad people.

And bad people didn’t care about brotherhood or loyalty. Was he getting too into the role?

Next time, he’d have to pay more attention.

Meanwhile, just as Lucas drove off, Adrian immediately called David to report.

“What? You went to work for Lucas? Didn’t I tell you someone’s already watching him? I told you to keep an eye on Zavier!”

David was furious, almost crushing his phone in rage.

Lately, everything had gone wrong, and now even Adrian, usually his most reliable man, was messing up.

Adrian said helplessly, “I went there for Zavier, but the moment I showed up, Lucas stopped me. He didn’t even ask questions and made me his lackey. I had no choice but to agree or risk exposing myself.”

“…”

After hearing the report, David’s hatred for Lucas hit the max.

“Boss, I heard you ordered Lucas to be killed. Do you want me to do it?”

David gritted his teeth. “Not yet. I just got word that Wendy’s people are tailing Lucas. If we act now, she’ll find out.”

He didn’t want to lose Wendy as an ally.

He needed to win her over before dealing with Lucas.

“Just keep following Lucas and report on him. I’ll give you further instructions when needed.”

After hanging up, David narrowed his eyes and looked at Yasmin. “Monica’s movie is about to start filming. When that happens, I’ll use them to get rid of Lucas. Let Monica and Sylvia deal with him.”

All he had to do was stir the pot a little and frame Lucas.

Make Monica and Sylvia think Lucas was plotting against them. Ideally, he could use the chaos to take out Sylvia too.

That would bring both the Morgan and Davis families down on Lucas.

Then he could sit back and watch the chaos unfold.

They all dared to look down on him. Now they’d pay the price.

Yasmin crossed her arms and nodded slightly, though her eyes showed clear disapproval.

Her boss seemed too obsessed lately with women and Lucas. He had neglected the four major families entirely.

She had followed David from the Northern Region to Su City for a reason, and it wasn’t to watch him mess around like this.

She had come to use him to strike against the four major families.

He had better not let her down.

When Lucas dropped Rose off at her door, she clung to his neck and refused to let go, kissing him over and over against the wall.

They were engaged, so hugging and kissing wasn’t a big deal.

But Lucas couldn’t relax.

While he was drowning in her soft embrace, a part of him kept worrying that the deeper their relationship got, the more it would affect the original plot.

Even kissing couldn’t feel completely enjoyable. It was frustrating.

Still…

Rose was just too beautiful, too fragrant, and holding her while kissing felt far too good to resist. He couldn’t get enough.

Even though a shred of rationality still lingered in his heart, constantly reminding him that he was merely a villain who would eventually be eliminated, Lucas still clung to Rose at the doorway for nearly an hour before finally letting her go.

By the time he did, her lipstick had been completely kissed away. Her cherry lips were slightly swollen and incredibly alluring.

“Honey, I’m heading inside now. If you miss me, call me. If you don’t call, that means you don’t miss me.”

Rose gently patted his cheek, clearly reluctant, but eventually went back into the house.

Lucas wiped his mouth and looked up at the moon with a long sigh.

Maybe… maybe he should stop worrying about being a villain and just stay in this world, living a peaceful life with Rose.

The problem was, even if he wanted peace, the Dragon King protagonist would never let him have it.

Because the Dragon King was the true ruler of this world.

Rose was the woman the Dragon King valued most. There was no way he would give up on her. When the time came, he would definitely come after Lucas.

The Dragon King had the strongest fortune, unmatched combat strength, the most powerful subordinates, and terrifying might.

And Lucas?

He was just some guy with a system that slightly improved his constitution and taught him two or three ancient martial arts techniques for escaping danger. How could he possibly be a match for the Dragon King?

Going against him and stealing his woman meant only one outcome—death.

Forget it. He might as well finish the missions and return to his original world.

At least there, he could live quietly with money, without attracting attention, and just enjoy a peaceful life.

Thinking this, he cast a regretful glance at the White family’s villa.

Sorry, Rose. Even though I’ve fallen for you, you were never meant to be mine.

He shook his head, got in his car, and stepped on the gas.

Not long after he left, Rose opened the door and stepped outside.

She had heard every single one of his inner thoughts.

At this point, you still want to leave me? Still want to return to your original world?

Impossible, Lucas. The man I, Rose, have chosen can only be mine. You are not allowed to leave me.

If the only thing you fear is David, then I’ll take care of him for you.

Inside the Morgan family’s villa, in Sylvia’s bedroom.

Monica paced anxiously. “What do I do? What do I do? Sylvia, come on, help me think of something. My family is forcing me to let David play the male lead in my movie. If I say no, they’ll cut ties with me!”

Sylvia lay on her stomach, resting her chin on her palms as she flipped through a manga. “Then just let him act. What are you afraid of?”

“I hate him!”

Ever since learning that this world was just a novel and that she was merely one of David’s harem heroines, Monica had wanted to burn the whole thing down.

But once she cooled off, she realized it might not be such a bad thing.

As a heroine, she had better fortune than most people. She could also hear Lucas’s inner thoughts and even foresee certain events from him. It was practically like having a cheat code.

As long as she stayed away from David, avoided getting involved with him, and didn’t become one of his harem members, everything would go smoothly for her.

But David, that bastard, just had to cling to her and wouldn’t let go.

That was what frustrated her the most.

Sylvia flipped over and looked at her curiously. “Why do you hate David so much?”

“You’re asking me?” Monica narrowed her eyes. “Then why do you hate him? Last time, during the bullying video incident with Lucas, you spent a lot of money hiring a foreign team to tank David’s stock price. Don’t tell me that was just for Lucas.”

She climbed onto the bed and leaned close, staring Sylvia in the eye.

“You might fool others, but not me. If you didn’t have a personal grudge against David, you wouldn’t have gone that far or spent that much money. So tell me, why do you hate him so much?”

She hadn’t expected the topic to turn back on herself.

Sylvia blinked. She couldn’t exactly admit that she could hear Lucas’s inner thoughts and had learned from him that David was using his protagonist aura to force her into his harem.

After thinking for a moment, she made up a reason. “Because I like Lucas. For him, I wouldn’t just go against David. I’d go against the whole world if I had to.”

“What? You like Lucas?”

Monica’s eyes widened in disbelief.

She had noticed early on that her bestie treated Lucas differently than others, but she didn’t think it had reached the level of romantic interest.

After all, Sylvia had only just returned to the country not long ago.

“Yeah, I like him.”

“But isn’t he already engaged?” Monica looked at her nervously. “You’re not planning to be the third party, are you?”

“Me? The third party?”

Sylvia laughed, but the killing intent in her eyes was impossible to hide.

“I’m the eldest daughter of the Morgan family. You think I’d be a third party? Don’t joke with me. If I’m going to do something, it will be as the main wife. Sure, he’s engaged to Rose, but from what I’ve seen, their relationship isn’t that deep. Stealing him won’t be hard at all.”

Monica was stunned.

Was Lucas really that great?

Good enough for her to ignore her identity and try to steal him away?

She was also interested in Lucas, but only to get useful information from him. She had never considered getting involved with him romantically.

At that moment, her phone rang again. Monica glanced at it and sighed. “It’s my dad again. He’s definitely calling to pressure me into letting David play the male lead. Looks like I won’t be able to avoid it.”

Two days later, Monica’s new movie was officially announced.

Director and lead actress: Monica.

Male lead: David.

The moment this casting was revealed, it caused a huge stir.

David had never acted before. He had no experience in the entertainment industry and was a total rookie.

To debut as the male lead, and in Monica’s movie no less, naturally set off a storm of rumors and gossip.

Many people started saying the two of them were in a relationship.

In Su City, the four great families were also shocked by the news. David’s move signaled that he was no longer keeping a low profile. He was going to expand his power openly and confront the four families directly.

They couldn’t sit still after that.

The four families began to take action, which quickly stirred chaos throughout the city.

Even Sebastian couldn’t stop talking about it whenever he came home.

When Lucas heard the news, he wasn’t nervous at all. In fact, he was thrilled.

Perfect.

This plotline was finally back on track.

David playing the male lead, building a relationship with Monica, winning her over, gaining the Davis family’s support, and growing his power.

This matched the original novel exactly.

Rose, Yelena, Sylvia, Sasha… What did it mean to be a true heroine? This is what a heroine was supposed to do.

Could they all please take some notes?

That day, while Medusa was massaging his legs at home, Lucas suddenly received a call from Yelena.

Only then did he remember that he had promised to attend her company’s new product launch.

He quickly changed clothes to head out, but just as he reached the door, Jasmine stopped him.

“Lucas, where are you going? I’m bored at home. I’m coming with you.”

Chapter 52: The Saving Villain

"I'm going to meet a friend. Why are you tagging along? Go entertain yourself."

Lucas didn’t have any feelings for Jasmine to begin with. Even if he did, to keep the plot from going off course, he had to maintain distance from all the heroines.

So he refused without even thinking.

But Jasmine had finally caught him. She wasn’t about to let him go that easily.

She immediately pulled out her phone and said, "You don’t want me to come along? That’s fine. I’ll just call Uncle and Auntie right now and ask them to order you to take me out. And when that happens, it won’t just be one little outing. You might have to stay with me from morning till night."

Her words left Lucas completely speechless.

These past few days, Jasmine had completely charmed his parents. They were treating her like their own daughter.

If she really told on him, things might unfold exactly as she said. He’d be forced by his parents to stay with her all day.

This woman really knew how to threaten people.

"Fine, I’ll take you. But you better not cause trouble or wander off."

Jasmine chuckled. "What, do you think I’m three years old? Let’s go."

On the way there, Lucas looked up information about the Miller family’s pharmaceutical company.

According to the plot of the original novel, their company hit a bottleneck. Then, with a prescription from David, they broke through and rose to a new level.

But because the storyline had changed and Yelena was no longer David’s confidante, he wouldn’t be giving them the prescription.

As a result, Miller Pharmaceuticals was stuck in a stalemate, unable to move forward or retreat.

To pull the plot back on track, Lucas had written a letter to Yelena under David’s name, sharing the two formulas with her.

Today’s product launch was for those very two prescriptions.

He didn’t know if David would show up.

If he did, Lucas had to be careful.

The last few run-ins with David had twisted the plot in all sorts of ways. The Dragon King protagonist, who was supposed to dominate everything, kept ending up humiliated instead.

This time, no matter what, Lucas was going to lay low.

"Welcome, welcome, President Wilson. We are honored by your presence."

"President Porter, long time no see."

At the hotel entrance, Old Master Miller was greeting the guests.

He was dressed sharply in a well-fitted suit, clearly in a good mood. It was obvious he was very satisfied with the new product launch.

"Young Master Grey! What a rare guest. And this is...?"

As soon as Lucas and Jasmine approached, Old Master Miller came forward.

Jasmine extended her hand with a smile. "Hello, Master Miller. I’m Jasmine, Lucas’s cousin. It’s a pleasure to meet you."

"Oh, so you’re the famous Jasmine, the outstanding young lady from overseas? I’ve heard a lot about you!"

Upon learning her identity, Old Master Miller was clearly delighted. He shook her hand firmly, then launched into a conversation about the global economy.

Lucas stood by and couldn’t help but admire her.

She was only in her early twenties, yet she could hold a lively conversation with a man over fifty. That alone spoke volumes about her knowledge and sophistication.

And she was genuinely impressive.

In the original novel, two heroines made their mark in overseas trade.

One was Sylvia. The other was Jasmine.

But their circumstances were different.

Sylvia had the backing of the Morgan family. She started off with access to a multi-billion-yud company. Even though she built her own team and recruited elite talent from Wall Street, she was still deeply tied to the Morgan family’s influence.

{A\N: Yud is fictional currency, $1=7 Yud}

Jasmine, on the other hand, was only an adopted daughter of the Grey family. She didn’t inherit any companies and carved out her own empire overseas through sheer ability.

At this point, she had founded six companies, along with her own law firm and accounting firm. Her business empire was already sizable, and she was well-known even within Falcorin.

(A\N: Falcorin= Fictional Country)

And this was just the beginning.

Later in the story, her overseas ventures would even surpass Sylvia’s. Especially after Sylvia turned her focus to martial arts and lost interest in business, Jasmine’s career flourished. She eventually became the only East Asian woman in the Forbes top 100.

Naturally, a seasoned businessman like Old Master Miller was thrilled to meet someone like her.

As for Lucas…

Though Old Master Miller was polite, he clearly had no intention of chatting. After all, Lucas was known for being a useless playboy with no accomplishments. He was just there to make an appearance.

After entering the hotel, Lucas immediately spotted Yelena, who was giving instructions to her team.

She wore a white dress embroidered with pale green bamboo leaves. The twin frog buttons and shawl design gave her a refined, classical elegance, like a lady straight out of an ancient painting.

Beside her, Jasmine wore a sleeveless top and a tight-fitting skirt, exuding the sharp, professional aura of a workplace elite.

Her black heels and stockings made her 5'3" frame feel like it had the presence of someone towering over six feet.

Honestly, most men standing next to her would look weak by comparison.

Only the Dragon King protagonist could truly match her.

If anyone were to ask which of the harem women was the most compatible with the Dragon King, it would undoubtedly be Jasmine.

Lucas, confident that no one could hear his thoughts, freely mocked this in his mind.

But he had no idea that Jasmine had heard every word.

She brushed her long hair behind her ear to hide the fire in her eyes.

What was that supposed to mean? She wasn’t some monster that needed to be "kept in check" by a man.

Was it so wrong to want a comfortable relationship with someone who could simply be her equal?

"Lucas!"

Just then, Yelena approached with a smile.

"You should’ve told me you were coming. I would’ve come out to greet you personally."

"I’m just here to show support. How’s everything going? Need help with anything?"

He had already scanned the hall and hadn’t seen David anywhere.

That made him nervous.

Since the prescriptions had been sent in David’s name, there was no way he wouldn’t be invited to the launch.

Unless David was planning to appear later as a VIP guest?

Yelena heard his thoughts but said nothing. She simply smiled.

She knew Lucas had written the letter and understood his motives.

That was why she hadn’t invited David at all.

"Don’t worry. Everything’s going smoothly. We have something important to announce soon. Your seat is over there. If you’re bored, feel free to take a seat and wait."

"Got it. Go ahead. I’ll sit for a bit."

Lucas waved her off, then led Jasmine to their assigned seats.

Today, he didn’t want any attention. He didn’t want to stir up trouble. He just wanted to get through the event and go home.

After sitting down, Jasmine glanced around and raised an eyebrow.

"Miss Miller actually gave you such a good seat?"

"This is a good seat?"

Lucas rarely attended formal events like this and didn’t know much about the setup.

He glanced around but couldn’t make sense of it.

Jasmine curled her lips and said, "You can’t tell? The seat you’re in right now is at the main table. If I’m not mistaken, once Old Master Miller and Miss Miller finish greeting the guests, they’ll be sitting here too."

The main table?

Even Lucas, clueless as he was, knew what it meant to sit at the main table for an event like this.

It was either reserved for close family or VIP guests.

He was just here to make up the numbers. How could he be seated at the main table?

Lucas stood up immediately. "There must be some mistake. I’m not supposed to be here. Let’s move to a side table."

Jasmine laughed and pulled him back down. "Come on, don’t be ridiculous. Your name is right there on the back of the chair. How could it be a mistake?"

What?

Lucas turned around and checked. Sure enough, his name, “Lucas,” was stuck on the back of the chair.

But he didn’t understand why Yelena had arranged this seat for him.

"Why are you so nervous? Miss Miller values you. Isn’t that a good thing? Why are you acting all uncomfortable? As the Grey family’s young master, can you show a little backbone and stop being so timid?"

Lucas didn’t say anything.

Who was timid?

He was just afraid he had taken the protagonist’s spot.

Still, since his name was already there, he quickly checked the name tags on the rest of the table.

No sign of "David."

So Yelena hadn’t invited him?

Impossible.

Then it occurred to him. David had recently landed the male lead role in Monica’s new movie. He was probably busy filming with her right now and couldn’t make it.

Thinking of this, Lucas instantly relaxed.

Forget it. The whole Yelena storyline had been strange from the start. If it broke off, so be it. As long as things with Monica progressed smoothly, that was enough.

And if David wasn’t showing up, this would be so much easier.

All he needed to do now was play the role of an arrogant villain.

So he leaned back, popped his collar, crossed his legs, and started tapping away on his phone.

Watching his pose, Jasmine nearly burst out laughing.

This was his idea of an arrogant young master?

So shallow.

A real young master wouldn’t just sit quietly and play on his phone at an event like this. He’d already be swaggering around, stirring up trouble and picking on the weak.

She looked at him sitting there, feeling smug, and suddenly got the urge to tease him a little.

So she leaned closer and said, "Hey, don’t you feel like you look a bit like a lamb right now?"

"Huh?" Lucas looked up. "What kind of comment is that? I’m the arrogant and untouchable heir here, and you’re calling me a lamb?"

Jasmine burst into laughter. "Arrogant and untouchable? You? Take a look over there. Now that’s someone who fits that description."

Lucas followed her gaze and saw a flashy-looking man harassing a staff member who had accidentally bumped into him.

"My shoes are a limited edition worth seventy thousand. You got them dirty. I’m not even asking you to pay that much, just kneel down and lick them clean. I’m giving you face. Either lick or pay."

The staff member was a young man, likely a college student, looking honest and innocent.

Hearing the man’s demands, his face fell.

In front of so many people, kneeling down to lick someone’s shoes would mean throwing away his dignity.

But if he didn’t, he’d have to pay seventy thousand.

That wasn’t a number he could afford.

Trapped between two awful choices, his eyes quickly reddened. He looked up at the man pitifully, hoping for some mercy.

Unfortunately, the man didn’t care. He sneered again, "Are you licking them or not? Stop wasting my time. Pay up. What school do you go to? I’ll be visiting your dean tomorrow for compensation."

The mention of his school clearly frightened the young man even more. He began to tremble.

Seeing this, Lucas couldn’t help but feel a surge of righteous anger.

He’d done this kind of part-time work when he was broke too and had been mistreated by customers.

He knew exactly how that student felt.

He couldn’t just sit back. Even if he was playing a villain now, that didn’t mean he couldn’t do some good along the way.

To him, it would take little effort.

To that student, it could be life-changing.

So Lucas stood up and said dramatically, "You want to see me bully the weak? Fine, here’s your show."

He strode straight toward the man. When he got close, the man gave him a cautious look.

Seeing Lucas’s luxury watch and high-end suit, the man immediately realized this was someone he couldn’t mess with and looked away, refocusing on the student.

But Lucas didn’t avoid him. He walked straight into him.

The man stumbled back in shock. "What the hell are you doing?"

"You blind or something?"

Before the man could finish, Lucas shouted in his face.

Then he kicked him hard.

"I was walking, and you stood in my way. Don’t you know how to stay out of people’s path? My suit is wrinkled now. How are you going to make that up to me? Huh? Speak up!"

The man was too stunned to respond. He almost fell over and stared at Lucas like he was crazy.

Was this guy insane?

He had clearly walked into him on purpose and now he was turning the blame around?

Lucas really was acting crazy.

But he had to. If he didn’t go all in, this kind of thug wouldn’t back down.

He grabbed the man by the collar. "You dirty punk. You blocked my way, ran into me, and now you dare glare at me? Are you tired of living?"

The man, shaken, finally shouted back. "Are you nuts? I’ve been standing here the whole time. You walked into me. You’re trying to scam me!"

"What did you just say? I’m scamming you? You say you were standing still? Got proof?"

"Of course I do!"

The man looked toward the student.

"You saw what happened. Tell him it was him who walked into me. Say it. Tell the truth and I won’t make you pay for my shoes. Say it!"

The student glanced between the two men, clearly terrified. He lowered his head and said nothing.

He’d been pushed around too much. Now, he didn’t dare offend either one of them.

The man panicked and yelled, "What are you scared of? Just say it. Tell the truth, and I’ll let you off the hook for my shoes. Come on!"

Chapter 53: Mad Desire

Hearing that, the male student suddenly lifted his head. “Really?”

The man snapped, “Why would I lie to you? Say it already!”

“Alright, I’ll say it.”

He swallowed hard and said nervously, “I… I did see it. It was this gentleman who ran into you.”

Lucas let go of the man’s collar, only to immediately grab the student’s collar instead. “Say that again. What did you see?”

The student turned pale with fear. But to preserve his dignity and avoid a seventy-thousand-yud debt, he forced himself to say in a trembling voice, “Sir, it really was you who accidentally bumped into him. It’s not a big deal. Why not just let it go?”

“Fuck you. Since when do you get to tell me what to do?”

Lucas, both embarrassed and angry, shoved the student to the ground.

“Get lost. Disappear from my sight right now!”

Hearing that, the student acted as if he had just received a pardon. He turned and bolted.

He wished he could run as far away as possible and never see either of them again.

Only after watching the student disappear did Lucas turn and glare at the man. “You got lucky this time. If you fall into my hands again, I won’t go easy on you.”

With that, he strutted away.

The man quickly fixed his collar and tie, let out a long sigh of relief, and then called over a familiar face nearby.

“Who the hell is that guy? So damn arrogant.”

“You don’t recognize him? That’s Young Master Grey from the Grey family, Lucas.”

“That’s Lucas?” The man frowned. “No wonder people say he’s a useless rich kid. Seeing it with my own eyes is something else. Is Rose blind or something, marrying a guy like that?”

The person beside him sighed. “The guy just got lucky. He helped the White family when they were in trouble, so Rose agreed to marry him. Otherwise, not even in his next life could he land someone like her.”

This scene also fell into the eyes of Yelena, who was chatting with guests nearby.

Just before Lucas made his move, she had been about to step in and help the student herself. Who would’ve thought Lucas would beat her to it?

She watched Lucas deliberately pick a fight, let the student go on purpose, and swagger away like he owned the place. She almost couldn’t hold back a laugh.

His acting was so over-the-top.

“Miss Miller, did you invite that Lucas? I know you and President White are close, but you can’t ignore the event’s decorum just because of that. If he stirs up trouble during the launch, it could damage the reputation of Miller Pharmaceuticals.”

A client speaking with Yelena couldn’t help but speak up, clearly hoping she would find a way to get rid of Lucas.

They didn’t want him causing more problems.

To their surprise, Yelena smiled. “Who said I invited him because of Rose? He’s my honored guest. Please don’t speak ill of him in front of me.”

“Honored guest?”

The client was speechless and shook his head.

Forget it. The guy was the Grey family’s heir after all.

Background decides everything.

With that title alone, no matter how useless or outrageous he was, people would still suck up to him.

There was nothing to be done.

Lucas, having handled the situation, felt completely at ease.

Perfect. His actions just now not only reinforced his image as an arrogant young master but also saved the student. Two birds with one stone.

Damn, he was smart.

Just as he stretched and prepared to return to his seat and keep playing on his phone, he caught something out of the corner of his eye.

David walked in through the main entrance with two bodyguards.

Crap.

Why was the protagonist here?

Lucas’s first reaction was to hide.

But he quickly realized he had no reason to.

He hadn’t provoked the Dragon King protagonist recently. Today’s product launch was about the Dragon King and Yelena’s storyline. It had nothing to do with him. As long as he stayed far away and didn’t get involved, there was nothing to worry about.

Thinking this, he straightened up again.

“David?”

At the same moment, Yelena also saw him.

Her face was full of surprise, and she quickly walked over. “Why are you here?”

David narrowed his eyes at her, his gaze full of dominance and desire. “What, not happy to see me?”

Since arriving in Su City, he hadn’t touched a single woman.

Given his obsession with dual cultivation, he was about to explode if he didn’t get one soon.

Damn it.

It was all the fault of the women in the northern regions. One after another, they were so stunning that they raised his standards. Normal women couldn’t excite him anymore.

Only peerless beauties like Rose and Yelena could stir his interest.

Rose was already engaged to Lucas, and judging by her attitude, she wasn’t changing her mind anytime soon. Unless he killed Lucas, he had no chance. So for now, he had to suppress his feelings for her.

But Yelena…

She was single and just as beautiful as Rose.

She didn’t have an extreme yin body, but her constitution was still incredibly rare. Dual cultivation with her would greatly enhance his cultivation.

(A\N: Yin Body= Body with Ice Affinity)

His desire for Yelena had already reached a peak.

The way he looked at her, it was as if he wanted to devour her on the spot.

Yelena didn’t know what he was really thinking. She was just extremely surprised that he showed up.

Ever since learning he was the male protagonist of this world with a powerful destiny and had targeted her for his harem, she had kept her distance.

She never expected him to show up uninvited.

But…

He had been building his power in secret while also openly opposing the Four Great Families. Lately, he had become more and more high-profile. Yelena didn’t want to offend him and make an enemy for no reason, so she gave a polite, distant smile.

“Mr. Fox, your presence is an honor. I’m delighted. Someone, bring Mr. Fox to his seat.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

A staff member stepped forward and led David to the seating area.

Since they hadn’t reserved a seat for him, they could only squeeze in an extra chair at a table in the corner.

David looked at the seat, sneered, said nothing, and sat down.

One of his men couldn’t help but mutter, “Boss, Yelena put you at this kind of table. She’s clearly disrespecting you. I’ll talk to her and get you a better seat.”

“No need.”

David waved his hand.

“When she presents the new products, I’ll go on stage and give her the prescriptions for the Longevity Pill and Clarity Pill. I won’t need to say anything more. She’ll regret how she treated me.”

The worse his seat was now, the more guilty Yelena would feel later.

That would make her go even further to make it up to him.

Soon, the launch event officially began.

The director of Miller Pharmaceuticals acted as the host, rambling for a while before finally inviting Yelena on stage to present the new products.

She picked up the microphone, gave the audience a graceful bow, and smiled warmly.

“Thank you all for attending Miller Pharmaceuticals’ product launch today. We will be introducing two new medicines. But before that, I want to thank someone.”

Thank someone?

The guests at the launch event immediately looked around, trying to spot the person being thanked.

To be publicly thanked by Miss Miller herself was a huge honor.

Lucas, seated at the main table, immediately turned to look at David upon hearing those words.

Perfect.
