Introduction

side. Sit back and enjoy.

Delilah Cole likes to write naughty, smutty short stories. When she's not writing, she's reading books in the same genre. Delilah is a crazy animal lover, and although she finds it difficult to remember the names of people five seconds after she's met them, Delilah can tell you the name of someone's dog she met thirty years ago.

Chapter one

phone, rereading the text that had just nuked my night.

"Hey, I think we need to break up. It's not you; I just need space to figure things out. Hope you understand."

Understand? What was there to understand? That Trevor didn't even have the decency to break up with me in person? My fingers hovered over the keyboard, ready to unleash every insult I could think of. But instead, I tossed the phone onto the coffee table. It landed with a hollow thud, and I sank deeper into the couch.

Trevor was supposed to be different—sweet, reliable, and all in. He made all these promises about how "special" I was. Turns out, I wasn't even worth a face-to-face conversation.

The front door slammed, snapping me out of my pity party. Todd and Brian came in, laughing like they didn't have a care in the world. Probably cracking up over something dumb Joey had said earlier. They barely looked at me as they headed straight for the kitchen.
